Weekend Update

I haven't posted a blog since last weekend, so I suppose that means it's time again. However there isn't much to say. This weekend was a pretty uneventful one. I made my first solo trip in to Seoul, which I was excited about but turned out to be pretty uneventful. The bus and subway system here are so easy to use it wasn't really the adventure I anticipated. But in its own way, that is exciting too. It means I'm fully comfortable living here. Which I would say is a good thing.
Anyway, I did a bit of shopping and then met up with the boys at the Gimpo airport (which also includes a mall and movie theater) to see my first movie in Korea.
This also was not what I expected. It was a Hollywood movie, with Korean subtitles. And it turned out to be just about the worst movie I have ever seen. It's called Skyline. It's an alien invasion movie. And while such genres often have contrived plots and dialogue lines, this one was above and beyond what could even come close to being acceptable. The four of us found ourselves laughing throughout almost the entire thing. Afterwards, we were embarrassed that such a film had come out of our home country.

I highly recommend renting it.

Then we walked to the area where we catch the bus back to Janggi and went to a new Irish restaurant that just opened. It has another location in Itaewon that we have been to and really love. So we ordered their delicious Guiness stew and some beers and waited about an hour before finally asking about it, and being told that since they just opened they aren't able to make the stew. Clearly there was a language barrier issue when we ordered. But it was ok. We had some free garlic bread and headed home for Korean fast food, then called it a day.
The boys went to a soccer game in Seoul today, but I decided against it because I have a lot of work to do today. Which I haven't really done much of yet. But I still have several hours before bed time.

I don't really know what I can tell you about today. There hasn't been much going on, nothing out of the ordinary. And the ordinary is no longer new to me so I'm not sure what I can explain about. What do you want to know about life in Korea?
Let me know and I'll explain.

meantime, my friends and I have recently discovered this website where you can make a movie. We have taken to making our characters re-enact the conversations we've had with friends and family about our lives in Korea. I made one about the food.

My friend Kevin made one about our group of friends...however, I think it may not be funny if you don't know us and don't share our strange sense of humor, so I won't embed it. If you're interested though the link is: http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7919233

So, anyway sorry this isn't much of a post. Seriously, tell me what you would like to know and I'll fill you in! What cultural nuances are you curious about? What part of daily life would you like to learn about?

Movie is cute. Pepper & more pepper. Yes could not imagine you eating what you are but that is great for you to take to the culture as you have. When does it get cold there? Was 12 here this morning and Mn. has had their snow. Grandma H

lol glad you liked the movie. I don't think it's possible to save it, unless you have a special program. I will check though.
Just direct people to the blog if they want to see it!
