I had hoped Suzan would help Kevin immensely seeing as how she understands some English already, but her attitude pretty much just makes things worse. I got him playing with the letters today but she came and took over and discouraged him til he almost cried. I had to shout at her and made her cry at one point...which isn't hard to do, she's a brat.
So, I just don't know what to do with those kids. It's really discouraging and stressful. Luckily my day ends with the 5th-7th graders who actually understand me and actually work on their assignments and actually seem to learn things. So at least the day ends on an up note.
So another thing that happened today...this morning the director came and pulled me out of class because she said after going back and forth she decided that she will get the 3 bedroom apartment for me and the new teacher. I was kind of dismayed at this...I just met a whole bunch of people who live on my block, plus I like living in my own place. But she brought me and Sean to look at it and I have to say it was freaking awesome.
Full size living room. 3 bedrooms...one has a master bath attached, which of course I will claim for my own. The second bathroom has a BATH TUB. Which is rare. And even more rare, it has.....AN OVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay! I can finally cook!
It also has a veranda/3 season porch type thing that stretches the entire length of the apartment. People usually grow plants out there I guess. You could do anything with it. Oh and did I mention my bedroom has a WALK IN CLOSET.
So yeah, it's really sweet. Huge. I don't really want to share a place or leave my neighborhood but I think the trade off is worth it. I don't know if I'll be able to do a tour of it like I did for this one since I can't unplug my computer to walk around the place. I'll do pictures though.
She has to buy all the furniture yet...TV, beds, refrigerator, washing machine, etc. She said i'll move in probably the 20th. So maybe I'll throw a party for all the people I know here so far, since that's just before the long holiday. It's the perfect place for a party. It's HUGE. I'm kind of excited. Plus it's directly across the street from school...if there was someone in each place you could stand in the windows and see each other and shout a conversation. So, more time to sleep!
Oh also, there's an extra bedroom so if anyone wants to come visit me in Korea and eat dried squid, they'll have a place to stay for free!
So then the big event of the night...Taekwondo!!
I was kind of nervous since as I mentioned several times, I do not speak Korean. I wasn't sure how it would work out. So I didn't understand a lot of the explanations and stuff, but I found that it didn't really matter. I just have to watch what he does and imitate it...and I'm learning to count. So that's good, right?
There is another master there who helped a bit but mostly it was just the cute one. And I managed to impress him and everyone with my awesome talent for Taekwondo. He was very impressed! yay!
Hannah was kind of sad because she said I was better than her, but I assured her it was beginner's luck. She had a blue belt at one point so it's just a matter of refreshing her memory I think. But we both had fun, and I'm excited for tomorrow.
But crap, I can't remember the instructors' names...the cute one's first 2 started with a C and the third with a P i think but I can't remember! I will have to figure that out.
Oh yeah, one more thing...after work I went to Home Plus and McDonald's with Hannah and Sarah...I must report that McDonald's here tastes exactly like American McDonalds (except they have 2 korean-inspired sandwhiches...a spicy one and a shrimp one. No thanks).
I have to say that after 2 weeks of Korean food, the greasiness of the burger and fries did NOT sit well. I almost was craving kimchi afterward. Interesting.
So, here are a few pictures of the outside of my current apartment, the street I live on, the commercial block my school is on, and some large apartment buildings across the street. Oh, and the sign by the elevator once you get in the building my school is in. Can you find Tomato English?

Thanks for sending the pictures. It's good to see that the area where you are appears to be good/safe. Dad and I think it is rather ironic that the sign says "information" on the top, while the rest of the sign is written in Korean. Go figure! Mom
yeah you would think it would say

Enjoy reading your blog. What an experience for you! Grandma
Figure out a way to have the older kid HELP the younger kid. Find a way to make her feel important. Not sure how, but use what she wants to force upon others on her.
