Social life so far in Korea, &c.

My social life in Korea so far is better than it's been in a long time. It confirms my suspicion that a lot of my problems had to do with the place I was in...not just the people there but the funk I was in and couldn't break out of as long as I was there.
I've got lots of people I can call and get together with and I'm even on the verge of getting set up with the Taekwondo instructor. Nice.

It was funny tonight because after class we were all talking (well, Hannah did most of the talking as translator) and we figured out my Korean age (which I don't like because it's older!!!) and according to the older instructor, I'm only one year younger than the Cute One. And, since Cutie wants to learn English and I want to learn Korean, the two of us should get together and help each other learn. I'm ok with that.
Oh, it was funny because I thought to myself that this arrangement is much better than that with the cab driver I met my first weekend here...although to be fair the cab driver spoke better English than Taekwondo (i still can't remember his name!).

So we'll see. He lives far away apparently so it may be difficult to find time to do that. But maybe we'll make time.

lol

Ok anyway yesterday Kindy went pretty well actually... Because the one girl wasn't there. But today she was back and it went back to being shitty. The new girl is really little, she looks like 3. But she really wants to learn English and she watches a lot of English cartoons and is just bloody adorable. When it was just her and the boy yesterday it went really well for the most part. Today the older girl was back and just brought it all down again. The boy is kind of a follower so if she isn't paying attention it's hard to get him to do so. The little one will do anything I ask, but the older one makes it really hard to get a chance. At the end of the day I finally got the 2 younger ones to write their names on the board and they did a pretty good job, but then she erased it and made them both cry, and I couldn't get anyone to do anything else.
Seriously kindy sucks. I hope that when the new teacher comes she can help me. Right now it's unclear what class she's actually going to teach. So I wouldn't mind her giving me a hand in the meantime.
Because I'm kind of at a loss....if anyone has any good tips please let me know.
I'm not giving up yet but it's not getting easier.

Luckily Taekwondo is a good end to my day. It always makes me feel better...I really like it. And not just because of the instructor. For some reason martial arts really fits me. The strenuousness of it is just perfect...not too hard, but at the same time a good workout. Plus it seems like more of an awareness of your body movement and position rather than the coordination that a lot of sports require...like hitting a ball for example. Plus it's fun to kick things and pretend it's naughty kindy kids. Well, not really but kicking is fun.

Fridays since Hannah has a church thing at night, we are going to join the earlier class with the middle school kids. This ought to be interesting. I think all of them are much much better than us. And they all speak Korean. And some of them are our students. And whenever they see me in the studio they all stare at me because oh my god a foreigner is taking Taekwondo. And she has blonde hair and blue eyes. Freak!
lol but oh well, maybe it will be fun. Cutie will still be there so it's worth it. lawls.
